An Introduction to Studying Abroad in Denmark

Study abroad is all about getting a taste for the new, and experiencing something different from the normal campus life at your home university. If you are looking for something a bit different and a little off the beaten path, a study abroad semester, summer or year at DIS, which is located in the heart of Wonderful Copenhagen, offers a unique study abroad experience.

Aside from the many Cultural Immersion Options offered through DIS, you are encouraged to discover Copenhagen for yourself, so the city really comes alive and, most importantly, becomes ‘your home’ during your time in Denmark. Copenhagen is a friendly, open city crammed with cool and cute cafés, hip bars, varied clubs hosting international bands and acts that are regularly in town, sweet clothing stores and a plethora of parks and clean beaches. Also due to an excellent transport system, compact city center (where DIS is located) and bicycle paths practically everywhere, the life and soul of Copenhagen are easy to discover and explore.

Copenhagen Life

This section aims at giving prospective students a taste for what study abroad in Copenhagen and Denmark is really like, while offering a few local tips for current students. Under the Copenhagen City Life section, you will find an introduction to the city, including what’s around the main DIS building, links to event guides, transport and other areas of interest, a quick guide to the city through a local’s eyes and some reasons why DIS believes Copenhagen is the best city in the world to study abroad!

Study Abroad Blogs & Stories

Each semester, several DIS students are asked to keep study abroad blogs chronicling their time in Copenhagen. Feel free to read through their blogs and remember to check out the study abroad stories section for short essays and anecdotes about Denmark, the Danes and DIS written by former students. Hopefully this will help you picture what studying abroad in Copenhagen is really like and get a feel for the amazing and diverse local experiences that could lie ahead for you should you choose to spend your study abroad time at DIS!
